In the United States of America, 30,000 people have been diagnosed with CF. CF mostly effects Caucasian Americans with a European heritage. 1 in 30 Caucasian Americans carry the CF gene. 1 in 46 Hispanics, 1 in 65 Africans and 1 in 90 Asians carry at least one abnormal CFTR gene.
It is acutaly a rare disease, but is one the most widespread life shortening diseases. Most common among western countries. 1 in 3,300 caucasian children in the United States are born with cystic fibrosis compared to 1 in 15,000 African- American childern and 1 in 32,000 Asian-Americans.

Most people who have been diagnosed with CF don't usually live untill 30. The suffer all the symptoms of CF and have to have constatnt treatments. CF doesn't just effect the person with CF but it also effects their families. Mostly a stressful life. CF patients have to have constant doctor visits and having constant feelings of cloged airways.
